Green Building Centre

As the cornerstone of a strategy to educate the public about the impact buildings have on the environment, the Green Building Centre will be organized around three main poles:

Museum space (or educational module)

Modules offering both general and detailed information on green buildings will be installed at various locations throughout the Centre for Sustainable Development. These modules will focus on topics such as the built environment from a sustainable development perspective and the greening of buildings. The use of multifunctional mobile display equipment will make it easy to update content and reorganize the layout of the atrium as needed.

Educational tour (or interpretation circuit)

Marked out with descriptive panels located both inside and outside the building, the educational tour will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the characteristics of the Centre for Sustainable Development that contribute to its high performance in terms of sustainability. The circuit will include stops at various locations throughout the building, each of which will interpret a component of the building visible at that location: geothermal system, an active living wall, recycled materials, ecological paint, high-performance window system, floor coverings, lighting fixtures, etc. Exciting discoveries await visitors in the atrium, the mechanical equipment room, the washrooms, the building’s exterior and even on the roof!

Material library

Visitors to the Centre will be able to see and touch the different ecological materials not used in its construction thanks to a wall-mounted fresco that presents information on the environmentally friendly materials used, including their characteristics, applications and environmental advantages, as well as an analysis of their lifecycle.
